The governor has been buried in the Janskerk since 1762, where his son is also buried. He presented the city with a Koran from South Africa. “It is still in the possession of the university library. Unfortunately, they could not lend it out, otherwise it would also have been in the exhibition,” Jouwe explains. “It is probably the oldest Koran from South Africa, brought by what we now call Indonesians. They brought Islam to South Africa.”
