The main reason for the plans is that it will save a lot of space on the road. An inland vessel can transport the cargo of 100 to 120 trucks. To make the plans possible, some work still needs to be done, because space on the water is scarce these days and needs to be redesigned. Many loading and unloading walls, quays and inland ports have been sacrificed for industry and housing construction.
