Man 52 arrested after attempted bank robbery

A 39-year-old male and 31-year-old female, both of Brantford, faced charges following a break-and-enter on Monday, Oct. 2.

Brantford Police responded at about 7 pm to a break-and-enter in progress. The suspects were found leaving the property, police said.

The accused were arrested and allegedly found to be in possession of break-and-enter instruments, and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Both parties have been charged with break and enter with intent, possession of break-in instruments, possession of methamphetamine, and fail to comply with an undertaking.

Theft from business

Police responded to a report of a theft at about 3:50 pm on Sept. 30 from a business on Colborne Street West.

The store’s loss prevention officer witnessed a person concealing items and leaving the store with no effort made to pay for the goods.

Officers located a suspect who resisted arrest, police said.

A 38-year-old Brantford woman is charged with resisting arrest and theft under $5,000.

Package stolen from home

A 28-year-old Brantford woman has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen goods under $5,000, and probation order non-compliance.

Police were called to a North Park Street home just before 3 pm on Saturday, Sept. 30, after receiving a report that a package had been stolen.

Officers were able to identify and locate the suspect who was taken into custody.

Driver faces several charges

A 41-year-old Brantford man arrested for suspected impaired driving faces several additional charges.

Brantford Police were sent to a restaurant at Colborne and Rawdon Streets at about 11:20 pm on Friday, Sept. 29, for a possible impaired driver.

Officers located the vehicle and observed signs of intoxication after speaking with the driver, said police.

The license plates on the vehicle, and an additional set inside the car had both been reported stolen.

The accused refused to provide a breath sample and was found to be in violation of multiple driver suspensions and prohibitions, said police.

The accused is charged with operation while impaired, failure or refusal to comply with demand, three counts of operation while prohibited, two counts of driving while under suspension, and two counts of possession of stolen goods under $5,000.

Impaired driving charge

A 42-year-old Brantford woman has been charged with impaired driving.

Officers stopped a vehicle at about 4:40 pm on Saturday, Sept. 30, after receiving a call about a possible impaired driver in the vicinity of Paris Road and Terrace Hill Street.

Signs of impairment were detected when officers spoke with the accused, and breath samples obtained at the police station produced a result nearly three times the legal limit, said police.
