Presidential couple Jill and Joe Biden’s shepherd dog Commander has been removed from the White House after a number of bite incidents involving employees and Secret Service personnel, a spokesperson for US First Lady Jill Biden announced.

“They (the couple) are grateful for the patience and support shown by the Secret Service and all involved as they continue to search for a solution. Commander is not currently on White House grounds,” said the statement from Elizabeth Alexander, the first lady’s communications director.

Commander is two years old. The Bidens have had similar problems in the past. Major, a relocated German Shepherd that the family took in in 2018, was involved in several biting incidents in 2021. He was then specially trained in Biden’s home state of Delaware to get used to life in the White House.

Perhaps the couple’s most famous “first dog”, Champ, died the same year. He was in the White House already during Joe Biden’s time as Barack Obama’s vice president from 2009-2017.
