One of the best disaster films ever which is getting

Disaster films were booming in the 90s and Twister was the crowning glory. The storm thriller with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton was extremely successful in 1996, but was subsequently ridiculed for a long time. It now enjoys a gentle cult status – which is rewarded with a sequel, which is currently in the works. Today you could watch Twister on TV.

Today on TV: What is Twister about?

Former scientist and current weather announcer Bill Harding (Bill Paxton) travels to Oklahoma with his girlfriend Melissa (Jami Gertz) to get the divorce papers signed by his estranged wife Jo (Helen Hunt). This took up Bill’s old research and built a machine that will be used to research hurricanes.

Exciting project: When is the sequel to Twister coming?

Not much is known about the story of the sequel Twisters. The story is probably rather irrelevant anyway. In the foreground is the Nostalgia factor, which recently benefited reboots like Halloween and Top Gun 2. While in these two examples the main actors returned and were at the center of the plot, Twisters takes a different path. Bill Paxton unfortunately died in 2017. The casting of Helen Hunt is kept a big secret. She is not officially part of the cast, but a surprise appearance is obvious.

The rest of the cast is even more exciting: Daisy Edgar-Jones (Fresh), the new Superman David Corenswet, Top Gun 2 star Glen Powell and Brandon Perea (Nope) are just four well-known names from the cast. Lee Isaac Chung (director of the highly acclaimed Minari) also replaces Jan De Bont as director. Here you can see the entire cast of Twisters.

Twisters is scheduled to hit US theaters on July 19, 2024. A German start date has not yet been set, but it will most likely be July 18, 2024.
