Judge showed judgment for husband – turned himself in

A judge at the administrative court would judge in a high-profile case regarding a permit in connection with a Koran burning. Because the case had received attention in advance, she chose to let her husband read parts of the sentence – even though the judge knew that it was confidential.

The reason was that she knew that the judgment would be read by many and wanted to make sure that the judgment would be formulated as clearly and unambiguously as possible.

The judge is now criticized by the JO because it does not matter if the cleared parts of the judgment only contained previously known information. But according to JO, it is significant that the husband was only allowed to hear parts of the judgment because the husband could not then draw any conclusions about the verdict or the court’s assessments.

The investigation has shown that no one other than the husband was allowed to share the information and the risk of further dissemination of the non-public judgment appears, according to JO, to be “very small”.
