Its terrible to say but children and young people are

In Sweden, gang violence has escalated even more in September. A criminologist who visited A-studio says that Finland should consider what could be done differently than in Sweden.

A new feature of gang violence in Sweden is the recruitment of children and young people into criminal activities, says a criminologist Maria Normann from Laurea University of Applied Sciences. According to Normann, the destruction is greater in violent crimes committed by young people.

– When young people are given guns and a lot of obligations, demands and tension, that finger on the trigger is more sensitive and the trail of destruction is bigger and more visible, Normann reflected in Monday’s A-studio.

– It’s terrible to say, but children and young people are involved here, he continued.

According to Normann, Finland should learn from Sweden’s mistakes. In particular, one should be prepared for how children and young people are taken advantage of.

– Tough measures, i.e. no more savings on child protection and social work.

Nor should anyone feel left out.

– If you don’t belong in society, if you are marginalized, if your place is always to be on the fringes, then I piss in my own cereal, says Normann.
