In Destiny 2, a raid exotic from Destiny 1 came back in September 2023, the Necrochasm automatic rifle. But players were disappointed with the weapon in PvE. That could change now, because resourceful players have noticed a hidden synergy in the weapon.
What kind of item is this?
Player discovers synergy with other exotic weapons
This has now been discovered: A player has now discovered a secret hidden by Bungie in the Necrochasm.
If a target suffers from a Weapons of Sorrow debuff, the enemy will explode from Necrochasm even with normal body hit kills.
So if an enemy is already suffering from the Throne or Necrochasm poison and then dies, they will explode, which can take out more mobs.
This effect is exactly what Bungie wanted, as is clear from an emote from the developer Mercules, who shares a corresponding video on Twitter and thus draws attention to the effect.
Before joining Bungie, Mercules was a content creator who delved deeply into the mechanics of the shooter. He was considered the absolute weapons expert in Destiny. Bungie hired him as an “Associate Weapon Designer” in March 2022 (via Twitter).
4 cursed weapons in Destiny
What are the “Weapons of Sorrow?” The weapons are infamous instruments of destruction, twisted and cursed by Hive magic. The weapons are associated with destruction and tragedy. They corrupt their wearers and tempt them to do evil deeds. In the game they poison or curse their victims.
There is an excellent background story, especially about the “Thorn” and its carrier Dredgen Yor, which “My name is Byf” has prepared.
The 4 known Weapon of Sorrow are:
What does that mean in practice? In practice, the Necrochasm could be an exciting weapon in the team due to the synergy if another player uses another “Weapon of Sorrow”. The submachine gun “Osteo Striga” is particularly suitable because it leaves a 9-second debuff on the opponents.
If the player uses the Necrochasm to take out such a weakened opponent, the explosion could quickly clear a room.
The Necrochasm itself can also trigger a debuff on the opponent and then cause the explosion with a body hit: but the time window is only 2 seconds.
