Waalwijk goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen collided with Ajax striker Brian Brobbey in the 83rd minute, writes NTB.
According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, resuscitation began, a few minutes later Vaessen was carried off the plane on a stretcher. The condition of the 28-year-old is not known.
“The match has been temporarily stopped due to an apparently serious medical situation. We are thinking of you, Etienne,” writes Ajax on social media.
Ajax were leading the away match 3–2 when the incident occurred.
