On Friday, the Raasten Rastah festival was inaugurated in Röros, where people from all over Sápmi have come.
Raasten Rastah’s chairman of the board Toini Bergström thinks that the festival, which is held every two years, has started.
– We have planned the festival for two years and it was stressful before the festival, but now it feels good and we will be happy and enjoy ourselves all weekend, he says.
The festival runs throughout the weekend and is an arena where the Sami culture in the southern Sami area is promoted, spread and further developed.
“Need this arena”
– Raasten Rastah is important both as a cultural and social arena where Sami people in Sápmi, both from Norway and Sweden, can meet and many people have come here today and it shows that we need this arena, says Bergström.
SVT Sápmi is on site with a team from the program 15 minutes from Sápmi who will record next week’s program on site during the festival.
