Frida Karlsson won last season’s Tour de Ski.
After the final climb, she collapsed on the ground.
– I hope I won’t end up there again, says Karlsson now to Sportbladet.
It was in January earlier this year that Frida Karlsson, 24, finished first in the “final climb” on Alpe Cermis in the Tour de Ski. With that, she became the first Swede in 15 years to win the competition. But immediately after the finish, Karlsson collapsed, and the television viewers had a terrifying experience.
Frida Karlsson’s collapse
After coming in, getting filters around him and some blueberry soup in him, the news came after a little while that Karlsson was okay. She has seen the TV images afterwards.
– I have received the pictures. It was a special occasion, it was. I hope I won’t end up there again, says the 24-year-old to Sportbladet.

Pre-season training is now in full swing for the skiers for the next season, which starts on the last weekend in November. Most recently, several of the Swedish national team skiers come from a high-altitude camp in Livigno. But Frida Karlsson has also managed to return to Alpe Cermis during the summer.

Got revenge
At the site of her collapse last winter, this time intervals were on the schedule.
– It was fun, it was a good interval session. After one interval, you were up at the goal and there were four intervals left. Then you realize that it is an even longer hill than what we normally ride.

Karlsson reveals that before the training session, however, she was not completely at one hundred.
– I have to admit that I had a small lump in my stomach before. But it was nice, then you got to take a little revenge on it, she says.
