Woman dead after explosion in residential area in Uppsala

During the night, the police received several alarms about a loud bang in a residential area in Fullerö/Storvreta outside Uppsala. On the spot, the police found that some kind of explosion had occurred. Two houses were heavily damaged and three more houses were affected by the blast.

A 25-year-old woman was injured and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. Later in the morning, the police announced that she had died from her injuries.

The incident is being investigated as murder and aggravated vandalism and the scene has been cordoned off.

A large police operation is underway in the residential area. The National Bomb Squad is also on site to carry out a technical investigation.

The woman’s relatives have been informed of the death.
