VVV Amersfoort has been around for 125 years: ‘Of course more tourists are good’

VVV Amersfoort has been around for 125 years Of course

No surprise for coordinator Guido de Graaf: “We are almost always told: how is it possible that Amersfoort is so little known?” To know how it all started at the Tourist Office, we have to step back in time. In the Netherlands, at the end of the 19th century, great interest arose in many cities in ‘foreign traffic’, as the tourism sector was then called. The economic benefit that this could provide also appealed to the Amersfoort middle class. Subsequently, seven Amersfoort retailers decided to do more with this. This is how it happened: the Association for Foreign Traffic in Amersfoort, simply called VVV, was founded on September 27, 1898.
