Niklas Wikegård is never afraid to say what he thinks.
But now the TV4 profile has had enough of the mess in Swedish hockey.

He is one of our most popular hockey experts. And the reason why so many like Niklas Wikegård is because he always says what he thinks and thinks in all situations.
Wikegård’s anger
The TV4 profile never backs down to speak its mind and usually does so well thought out and well articulated. On Tuesday evening, Wikegård got really upset after a situation in the SHL match between HV71 and Modo and vented his anger in the TV4 studio.

The HV player Tommy Tikka had to leave the ice with a match penalty after tackling Josh Dickinson against the head. Dickinson remained on the ice for a long time, but Wikegård doesn’t even think it was a dismissal and certainly not a match penalty.

“I get scared”
The day after the match, the outspoken television profile has collected his thoughts but is still just as upset and points out the worst thing about Swedish hockey right now.
– Nobody wants to get a club or a glove to the face, but the thing itself, which is so widespread, because it’s really too late to talk about this. Its over! Everyone runs this thing now. That you collapse, slide into the goalkeeper and lie there in the fetal position so that everyone in the entire arena thinks that it went right for the woods. As a hockey player and as a person, you feel that “there was no danger” and get up after a second, or maybe you just go down on your knees and then quickly go to the booth, put on an ice pack and then continue playing, says an angry Wikegård at Instagram, see the video below.

Wikegård has had enough of all the reinforcements and exaggerations that are spreading and poisoning Swedish hockey at the moment.
– It is the whole tendency to exaggerate in hockey that causes it. I get scared of this and think: “Have I missed something or?”. You don’t really know when it’s dangerous and when it’s not? Because everyone stays behind all the time. It has to do with pride and values! That’s what’s so strange, he says and roars in the video on Instagram, see it below.
– Reinforce, reinforce, reinforce. It’s like calling out “the wolf is coming” and one, two, three, it’s really dangerous. That’s what pisses me off! It sets it up for everyone and is basically cheating. It’s a fucking cheat!”.

There are many who agree with Niklas Wikegård in the comment section and do not like this development in hockey at all.
“Quite right Nicklas! One can ask the question how the referees can still make such a misjudgment when they still go out and look at the TV pictures, then the player who was lying half-dead on the ice is sitting laughing in the booth, so fucking unsportsmanlike,” writes one user.
“Thank you for still standing up for hockey to still be played! Getting so damn tired of all these assessments. We will completely remove tackles from hockey if this continues!”, writes another.
“Hockey players might watch a little handball and realize that it doesn’t hurt, then you stand up straight away… It feels like hockey players have watched a lot of soccer and noticed how they act,” writes a third.
