According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out on Tuesday around 22:45 local time, and there were hundreds of participants in the party. The fire is believed to have started after fireworks were lit during the celebration, local civil protection authorities reported in state media.
– Initial information indicates that fireworks were used during the wedding celebration, which started the fire in the ballroom, the civil protection authorities said in a press release.
– The fire collapsed part of the roof due to easily flammable and cheap construction materials.
Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ordered that an investigation be started in connection with the fire.
