Man charged with murder in Malmö – had body parts in the fridge

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was last seen alive on October 9 last year.

On November 29, a 53-year-old man walked into the police station in Malmö and admitted that he had killed and dismembered the missing young man.

The brutal and barbaric act took place sometime between the two dates in question.

Today, the 53-year-old was charged with murder and grave breach of privacy.

Placed in garbage bags

According to the prosecution, the victim was stabbed to death in the 53-year-old’s apartment. Large amounts of blood traces were found in various parts of the home, along with several additions. Among other things, a saw.

After the murder, the remains were stored in garbage bags that were placed in the man’s refrigerator and freezer in the kitchen. There was food in the same white goods.

Due to the injuries and the condition of the body, the police have not been able to determine the exact cause or time of death.

– It has been established that he dismembered the body and kept it in his apartment for a long time after the crime, says senior prosecutor Tomas Olvmyr.

Bargains in mobile

The accused 53-year-old admits grave breach of privacy, that he dismembered the body, and that he killed the victim. However, he denies murder and believes that the 23-year-old was stabbed in an emergency. Something the prosecutor does not believe.

– I consider that it has been established that the accused man intentionally caused the plaintiff’s death and that there was no emergency situation or other exculpatory basis, says Tomas Olvmyr.

When the police went through the 53-year-old’s mobile phone, material was found which, according to the investigation, showed that he had “a tangible interest in violence, murder, executions and dismemberment of bodies.”

The trial in Malmö district court is expected to be held later in October.
