In recent years, Oliver Kalkofe and Peter Rütten have met many bad films watched together – and not just privately in your own four walls. In the Tele 5 program SchleFaZ they expressed their enthusiasm for all those films that usually lead a sad existence in the grab table.
The worst films of all time presented and commented on by Kalkofe and Rütten: This era is soon coming to an end. In a press release, Tele 5 announced that and only ten SchleFaZ issues left wait. After that it’s over. The reason: The German private broadcaster wants to focus more on fictional content.

“The worst start to the week”, Kalkofe commented on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) about the cancellation of the show, which he led with Rütten for eleven years. Attached is a statement in which the duo looks back on the past eleven years of SchleFaZ and at the same time stirs up hope:
[…] We are understandably saddened and yet grateful for the many moments of creative madness we were able to create during this time. We promise our wonderful fans: The beautiful battleship #SchleFaZ will not sink despite everything looking for a new home port and continue to sail around the world of bad films live on stage.

The end of SchleFaZ on Tele 5 does not automatically mean the end of the entire broadcast. Based on the above statement, Kalkofe and Rütten can imagine the format on another station (or perhaps a streaming service). In an interview with the industry magazine DWDL, Kalkofe still sounds very upset about the dismissal: “No plan, no direction.”

After that, it is unclear what the status of the worst films of all time on German television is. Let’s hope that Kalkofe and Rütten will soon be one new home port for their format, in which trash gems like Mutant – The Horror in Space and A Kingdom Before Our Time – The Magic Ring were recently celebrated.
