Anyone looking for a good sci-fi movie brilliant mind games Alex Garland will definitely get his money’s worth. Garland wrote the screenplays for 28 Days Later and Sunshine, among others. Most recently he also realized himself as a director and brought outstanding sci-fi stories to the cinema.
Nine years ago he addressed the question artistic intelligence and created the captivating chamber drama Ex Machina starring Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac. Tonight you can watch the film on TV, which is worth seeing. It feels more realistic with each passing day.

Nathan is currently working on a new project: He has created the android Ava (Vikander), who, apart from her individual technical parts that shine through under the skin, hardly distinguishable from a human is. Caleb is impressed before he realizes what nightmare he has entered.
As it turns out, he’s not there to review progress. Nathan deliberately lured him into the trap and… Part of his experiment made. Only with a human counterpart can he find out whether his creation really works. The sci-fi film becomes a horror thriller including a fight for survival.
Garland directs the film very elegantly and seduces us with his pictures, so that we feel like the protagonist. At first the fascination prevails, later the horror. What’s exciting is how Garland approaches the topic of artificial intelligence and what perspectives he takes on it (not just that of humans).
