The drama series in six parts depicts Börje Salming’s career in the NHL and his journey from Kiruna to Toronto together with his then-wife Margitta Wendin. The main roles are played by Valter Skarsgård and Hedda Stiernstedt.
Börje Salming is one of Sweden’s best hockey players of all time and was himself involved in the series before he passed away last year. The series is directed by Amir Chamdin and he has been working on the project for eight years.
Valter Skarsgård was trained by Börje Salming both before and during the recording.
“The role was a big challenge, not least physically. I couldn’t stand on a pair of skates when we started so it was two years of hard training. It was a long journey but worth it every time. Börje was absolutely incredible and vital to me in this project”, says Valter Skarsgård in a press release.
The series is shown on Viaplay and TV3.
