According to Yonhap, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Minister Park Jin met with Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in New York yesterday. The USA, South Korea and Japan announced that they decided to take tough measures against a possible arms deal between Russia and North Korea.
AGENDA KIM’S VISIT TO PUTIN
During the meeting, the ministers discussed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s visit to Russia and meeting with President Vladimir Putin at a time when concerns about a possible arms deal between Moscow and Pyongyang are increasing.
Expressing their deep concern about the military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, the ministers warned that a possible arms agreement between the two countries would violate the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
The ministers announced that they decided to take tough measures against a possible arms deal between Moscow and Pyongyang, and the 3 ministers committed to cooperate with the global community to decisively fight against any threats to regional security in violation of UNSC resolutions.
WHO MET WITH PUTIN?
Kim met with Russian President Putin at the Vostonchniy Cosmodrome in Russia’s Amur region on September 13.
Describing the negotiations with Kim Jong-un as “productive”, Putin stated that they exchanged views on the situation in the region and bilateral relations. (AA)
