Olga Kurylenko’s last big action appearance wasn’t long ago, but it was a disappointment: In Chris Hemsworth’s Netflix film Tyler Rake: Extraction 2, everyone was allowed to fight, so to speak, except for her.
Luckily, there’s action veteran Jesse V. Johnson (Accident Man) to direct Kurylenko in a new historical spectacle. In it, the Bond girl from Quantum of Solace takes on the entire Roman Empire.

In Boudica: Queen of War, Olga Kurylenko plays the role of a Celtic queen who is forced to lead the Iceni tribes after her husband Prasutagus (Clive Standen) is brutally murdered. After the loss of Prasutagus, she is the rightful leader of her followers, but the Roman Empire sees it differently. Boudica is subjected to torment and, as seen in the trailer, even loses her children to the heartless occupiers. That’s why she swears revenge.
Around 60 AD, the military leader rebelled against the Roman Empire, which gave her a mythical role in the formation of the British self-image, comparable to the Arthurian legend.
The film could be an action spectacle
You can read how Boudica’s or Boudica’s story ends in history books or you can wait and see the new Jesse V. Johnson ripper. However, we cannot vouch for its authenticity at this point. The British director did not make a name for himself with historical documentaries, but began his career as a stuntman and has impressed in recent years with some Scott Adkins hits such as Avengement, Triple Threat and Savage Dog.
Boudica: Queen of War will be rolled out in some countries in autumn/winter, but there is no German release date for the film yet.
