On Wednesday, the second and last day of the negotiations in the Supreme Administrative Court regarding the mine in Gállok/Kallak outside Jokkmokk continued.
The Nature Conservation Society, Sirge’s Sami village and the reindeer herder Siri Länta from Jåhkågasska tjiellde testified about the consequences of a mine.
– It has been two long days so now it will be nice to come home. There has been concern about how it will turn out, but I am also hopeful that we will be able to stop the mine, she says.
Then they can come
Jåhkågasska tjiellde’s legal representative Camilla Wikland feels satisfied after the negotiations.
– We have been able to present our arguments in a good way. We have said that we wanted to, the most important thing was that the reindeer herders have been told how reindeer herding affects, she says.
What happens now?
– Now we have to submit a supplementary opinion where we complete our claim and then there is a certain amount of waiting before the Supreme Administrative Court makes its decision.
When can we expect a verdict?
– It should arrive within a few months, says Wikland.
