Breaking news: After the operation launched by Azerbaijan yesterday, the eyes of the whole world turned to Karabakh. Yesterday, France called the United Nations General Assembly to an emergency meeting due to the operation. Hot developments continue in the region where a ceasefire was declared today. Important statements came from Azerbaijan.
“UNSC MEETING MAY HARM THE SITUATION IN THE REGION”
Making a statement in front of the cameras, Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hacıyev said:
“The UN General Assembly meeting could harm the fragile situation in the region. However, Azerbaijan can explain the reasons for the operation whenever it wants. Unfortunately, due to hybrid attacks and increased tension in the region, we could not hold the meetings we wanted in Washington, on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
“WE HAVE EVIDENCE, WE Clashed WITH SERIOUS MILITARY UNITS”
Armenia must abandon all territorial claims against Azerbaijan. So far they have denied having soldiers on Azerbaijani soil. But we have operational evidence. Armenia has soldiers in the field. We clashed with serious military units in the field, not with paramilitary forces. They dug very strong trenches, they had shelters and Howitzers. Areas of Shusha were also hit.
“WE WILL ALSO PROTECT THE ARMENIANS IN KARABAKH”
Armenia continues to support the illegal puppet regime on Azerbaijani territory. Today the illegal regime agreed to disarm its armed forces. Azerbaijan’s agenda is to ensure the peaceful integration of Armenians in Karabakh. We want to bring peace to the region. Azerbaijan has received assurances that illegal groups in Karabakh will lay down their weapons. They will be provided with a safe exit by Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has prepared a comprehensive social and economic integration plan for Armenian residents of Karabakh.
International media need to understand some terminology. Expressions such as “some kind of ethnic cleansing will be carried out here” were used. This is absolutely unacceptable. We will also protect the Armenians in Karabakh.
EMERGENCY MEETING CALL FROM FRANCE
On the other hand, France condemned Azerbaijan in the statement it published yesterday after the operation and called the United Nations General Assembly for an emergency meeting. The statement also claimed that Azerbaijan was targeting ‘settlements’.
