The iPhone 15 event “Wonderlust”, which technology lovers have been waiting for days, took place on the evening of September 12, 2023. Thus, Apple’s new iPhone models iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were unveiled. With the event where Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 smart watches were introduced, the era of Lightning ports on iPhones also ended. The Lightning port has been replaced by USB-C. Thus, USB-C came to iPhones for the first time in Apple history.

USB-C was not the only feature of the new iPhones. However, after the event, more details about the iPhone 15 emerged. Here are some of those details…

UP TO 4.5 W CHARGING WITH ALL iPHONE 15 MODELS

In a published support document, Apple provided some additional details about the USB-C port available on all iPhone 15 models.

First, Apple said that all iPhone 15 models can charge an Apple Watch, AirPods case, or other small accessories connected to the USB-C port at up to 4.5W. Apple announced this feature, but did not provide wattage information.

Secondly, the document revealed that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max support USB 3.2 Gen 2 for data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps. Apple had also already announced that the devices support USB 3, but the full specification has now been confirmed.

According to MacRumors, since the USB-C cable that comes with the iPhone 15 Pro models supports USB 2 speeds, a higher-spec cable is needed for higher speeds.

iPhone 15 Pro models also support recording ProRes video at up to 4K and 60 frames per second directly to an external storage device.

iPHONE 15 PRO COMES WITH A MAJOR INCREASE IN 5G SPEED

According to 9to5Mac’s claim in its news, new data reveals that Apple, which has supported 5G connection since the iPhone 12 in 2020, will offer major improvements in 5G performance thanks to the new Qualcomm modem of the iPhone 15 Pro.

The news is based on a report from SpeedSmart, which has data on speed tests performed using the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Based on the report in question, it is claimed that these devices use Qualcomm’s X70 modem.

Speed test data suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max offer up to 24% faster 5G speeds compared to the iPhone 14 Pro series.

Qualcomm’s X70 modem also powers some flagship Android smartphones on the market. Apple is also said to be in the process of developing its own in-house 5G modems, but this is expected to happen a few years away.
