Auto the three main US plants of Ford GM and

(Finance) – It started this morning (Italian time) on big strike at the main ones US auto factoriesproclaimed by UAW – United Auto Workers, the main union for auto industry employees in the USA. And the first time in 88 years that the strike is taking place simultaneously in all three factories of the so-called “sisters of Detroit”.

The systems are involved GM in Wentzvillein Missouri, of Stellantis in Toledoin Ohio, and of Ford in Wayne, Michigan. In total we are talking about a population of almost 13 thousand workerswho will fold their arms in protest against non-renewal of the contractbut it is not excluded that the protest spreads like wildfire, also involving the other factories, for a total of 146 thousand union members.

We’ll hit the big three at the same time. We are launching a new strategy”announced the UAW President Shawn Fain, urging the trade unionists of the other factories to be ready to strike in the event of failure of the negotiations.

Ford he assured that he was “absolutely committed” to reaching an agreement which “rewards employees” and defines as “generous” towards them and, at the same time, allows the company to “invest in the future”, in the midst of the transition towards electric mobility.
