In Destiny 2, there’s excitement about new items in the game’s cash shop, the Eververse. Bungie has brought cosmetic items from past seasons into the store and is offering them for purchase individually. But prices have risen considerably. At Bungie they call this a “nostalgia flashback” and limit the promotion to 3 weeks.
How to spend money on Destiny?
Overall, the prices for Destiny 2 are high and were harshly criticized by streamer Asmongold.
Second hand clothes at the price of luxury clothing
This is now the cause for trouble: On Reddit, a user now explains: All the cosmetic rewards that could be earned in previous €10 season passes are now in the Everversum cash shop, but cost €60 there. Even €80 if you want to buy all 3 sets.
The player scoffs: “Inflation is really taking its toll. I would have happily paid $10 or $15 to buy stuff from previous seasons that I missed, but the price is ridiculous now.”
The thread has over 1,600 upvotes and 500 comments (via reddit).
“Nostalgic look back” – only for a short time
What is this an action? Bungie is selling the story as a feature. On Twitter it says: For 3 weeks a “nostalgic look back” will be brought to the store.
Discussion is divided – many find the prices too high
How is the discussion? People are not very excited about discussions on the Bungie-friendly Reddit. Bungie simply calls out the “standard prices” for items and they are very high.
However, some on Reddit criticize Bungie: They simply want to make a lot of money with minimal effort. Players complain that this is “double pricing”: Bungie is selling the same thing twice.
What’s also common? The entire set with all cosmetic content for each class, including Sparrow, Spirit, Emote, weapon ornament and finisher costs 8,900 silver. This is an extremely unfavorable number:
It seems as if the 8,300 silver were not chosen at random, as players criticize.
What would be another option? A suggestion on Twitter received a lot of support: the prices were simply too high. Bungie could sell the items for the playable currency “Bright Dust” instead of charging money.
Bungie should make old material from the seasons earnable in the game and not purchaseable.
“I love the idea – but not the prices”
This is what lies behind it: One user clearly posted on Twitter: “I love the idea, but not the prices.”
It’s actually cool of Bungie to bring back cosmetic items that players missed, but selling them through the cash shop is probably the most player-unfriendly solution.
The action now seems like a step backwards compared to the open words a month ago:
