On Thursday, a woman in her 60s died after a shooting in Uppsala. She is said to be the mother of a person in the Foxtrot network, which is controlled by Rawa Majid.
During the night to Sunday, another shooting took place in Uppsala, which is believed to be aimed at a close relative of Rawa Majid. That violence is now directed at relatives of criminals means that the boundaries have been dissolved for what is acceptable, says SVT’s reporter Diamant Salihu.
– You don’t give in to mothers, not even in this context. Then there is free scope to take revenge, he says in Aktuellt.
Strömmer (M): Wants Majid to be prosecuted in Turkey
Majid is believed to be a resident of Turkey and he is a Turkish citizen. Since countries do not extradite their own citizens as a matter of principle, it makes it difficult for Sweden to prosecute him.
Gunnar Strömmer, Minister of Justice, says in Aktuellt that there is an opportunity for Sweden to press for Majid to be prosecuted in Turkey.
– We will not be satisfied until we see concrete results, that the people who carry out these murders are prosecuted either in Sweden or in the countries where they are. You are not exempt from responsibility because you have a different citizenship, he says.
Cooperates with Turkey
Strömmer also says that Sweden has a “close collaboration” with Turkish authorities and that there are developed channels for pressure.
He is also asked if it could be that Sweden has not pushed the issue clearly enough towards Turkey because it could reduce Turkey’s willingness to ratify a Swedish NATO membership.
– Not really, on the contrary. We in Sweden have a strong interest in deepening an already good cooperation with Turkey in this area and others, says Gunnar Strömmer.
