The newspaper further writes that the national team player Rebecka Blomqvist fell to the ground, without contact with any opponent. The 26-year-old immediately showed that something was wrong and raised his hand to quickly get medical help.
According to the TV images, she got stuck with the studs and twisted her knee.
Blomqvist was then led off the pitch.
Rebecka Blomqvist was one of Sweden’s WC heroes in Australia and in New Zealand, where the championship ended with bronze. Among other things, she scored in the World Cup semi-final against Spain, the 1–1 goal in the 88th minute before Olga Carmona pushed the Spaniards to the final in the attack that followed.
