A foreign citizen has been arrested in Norway, suspected of espionage, NRK reports.

The security police PST is tight-lipped about the circumstances, more than the fact that the man has engaged in wiretapping or signal intelligence. What nationality the man has or for whom he allegedly spied is not stated.

– There is a real and imminent risk that evidence can be destroyed, which means that we are short-handed with what we want to go out with, says prosecutor Thomas Fredrik Blom at PST to NRK.

The suspect is a student in his 20s. He was arrested on Friday and will be kept in isolation for the next four weeks and may not receive visitors or letters. According to PST, he has declared himself innocent of the charges.
