In Baldur’s Gate 3, a player recently messed up his entire playthrough because he doesn’t like children and therefore couldn’t flatter a certain companion. We at MeinMMO tell you what’s behind it.

Beware of spoilers: The article contains story spoilers about Act 1 to Act 3.

What’s behind the story? A Baldur’s Gate 3 player recently caused a stir. By choosing to portray his character as a hateful barbarian who harbors a deep-rooted dislike of children.

His only goal was to charm Halsin

What happened? The player a3wagner says on Reddit that he caused countless disturbing moments throughout the game and thus failed in his biggest goal – to wrap Halsin around his finger.

a3wagner’s description of the gameplay speaks volumes: “Arabella is in trouble with the crazy snake woman? She obviously deserves it, that thieving little snot. Goblin children running away from me and afraid? Throw rocks at them to knock them out before they can run away.”

But the consequences of his violent actions and his deep hatred of children were noticeable: he was denied the long-desired romance with Halsin.

In the second act of the game, the player met the character Oliver. Instead of engaging in conversation, the player rejected Oliver and instead opted for a confrontation with his family.

This decision probably led to Oliver disappearing for the rest of the game. Only later in the game did a3wagner realize his serious mistake.

He probably won’t experience the infamous bear sex scene in this playthrough.

How his bad karma ruined his romance

The player had the chance to chat with the character Oliver. But instead of having a polite conversation and playing hide-and-seek with him, he opted for a high-class confrontation and told him to get lost.

The result? Oliver disappeared from the action faster than a magician can mutter a spell. a3wagner had to fight against his family and Oliver was nowhere to be seen after that.

The consequences of this misstep only really became apparent to him in the third act, when his beloved companion Halsin packed his belongings and left the group.

Apparently Oliver’s rejection was the final straw on the road to romantic happiness with Halsin – and the player was able to say goodbye to his romantic plans.

His regretful words were: “It turns out that this decision permanently prevents me from keeping Halsin. My only goal in this run was to date him. Crap.”

However, according to some players, it should be possible to keep Halsin even if you reject Oliver. However, the quest is said to be buggy.

a3wagner’s story shows that freedom in Baldur’s Gate 3 can often lead to unexpected and humorous results.

It’s a stunning example of how a player’s decisions can significantly influence the course of the story – sometimes in unexpected ways.

Although a3wagner may not have had the romantic happy ending with Halsin, this unusual gameplay still remains an entertaining chapter. It will definitely work the next time you play the game.
