After the discovered case of African swine fever outside Fagersta, the Danish Food and Agriculture Organization announces that the risk of spread to the country is very low and that it is not changing its warnings for pig farmers.
The authority notes that it is 40 miles to Denmark from Fagersta, but also writes that Danes should exercise caution so that they do not risk bringing the infection with them via clothing, weapons or tools.
Of the three potential routes of infection to Denmark, the risk is seen as very low that wild boars will enter the country themselves or that the infection will come via transport and trade. The risk is somewhat higher, “low”, when it comes to hunters who have stayed in Sweden.
