Fagersta municipality is going into a limited staff situation due to the African swine fever.
– It feels incredibly boring. It affects everyone who lives and works in the municipality, says Åsa-Märta Sjöström, chairman of the municipal board.
“We have a close collaboration with the Swedish Agricultural Agency, which is on site in Fagersta, and also with the State Veterinary Hospital (SVA), which is on its way here,” the municipality writes on its website.
In order to reduce the spread of infection out of the affected zone, the municipality has banned several activities.
– It is important that everyone now respects the bans so that the spread of infection can be stopped, says Åsa-Märta Sjöström, chairman of the municipal board.
The decision means that the municipality can make quick and effective decisions.
– In the administration, we have ongoing contact with government authorities and other interested parties. At the same time, intensive work is taking place to get a picture of the situation for the municipality and map the consequences of the ban, as well as what measures we as a municipality need to take, says Karolina Berglund, municipal manager.
