Climb the lifting tower and watch the lock master
The Princess Beatrix Lock is the largest lock complex in the Netherlands and can normally only be viewed from the side. Tomorrow, during Open Monument Day, visitors will also be allowed into the operating room. “You can really look at the lock masters,” says spokesperson Sylvia Kramer on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat.
During a tour, people are also allowed to climb one of the lifting towers. “From above you can see the entire complex and you can also see the differences between the old chambers, the national monument, and the new, third chamber.” Along the way, guides will explain the technology and you can see, for example, the weights that raise and lower the lock gates.
