Armenia accuses Azerbaijan of preparing a “military provocation” against the country’s forces.
According to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijan is massing soldiers at the countries’ common border and near Nagorno-Karabakh.
– The military-political situation in our region has seriously worsened, Pasjinjan says at a government meeting.
– Azerbaijan shows that it intends to carry out a new military provocation against Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.
Nagorno-Karabakh is within the formal borders of Azerbaijan but is in practice a breakaway region under the wing of Armenia.
Tensions between the countries have escalated sharply in recent months. Both sides regularly accuse each other of breaking the ceasefire that is supposed to prevail in the region.
