The government abolishes the state subsidy to organizations formed on an ethnic basis, according to a press release.
“The public funds set aside for integration measures need to be used more efficiently and have a clearer integration purpose,” writes the government.
This means that SEK 18.9 million that was set aside for the state grant is withdrawn and redistributed.
“Apart from the special conditions that apply to the five national minorities, the government sees no reason why funds should be distributed to organizations based on the ethnicity of the members,” the government writes further.
State grants to organizations formed on an ethnic basis have existed for many years. Since 2008, it has been distributed by the Agency for Youth and Civil Society Affairs (MUCF).
