This is a first in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the formalization of free childbirth as part of the implementation of universal health coverage. The ceremony was launched this Tuesday, September 6 by the Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi. From now on, women will be able to give birth for free and newborn babies will be taken care of by the State for 28 days after birth.
