Stefan Holm’s clear words about his son Melwin Lycke Holm – and the great talent’s answer: “Scornful laughter in the face”

Melwin Lycke Holm has been successful this summer.
But is not at all satisfied with his efforts.
– It feels like a sneer right in the face, he says to SportExpressen.

He is one of Sweden’s greatest athletics talents and is predicted to have a brilliant future as a high jumper. But still is Melvin Lycke Holm extremely frustrated and not at all satisfied with the year that has been.

Melwin’s success

Despite the fact that the 18-year-old impressed and offered two big successes this summer. First he won gold during the U20 EC in Jerusalem and then Lycke Holm took the very first victory of his career in the Finncamp.
– For me… I really screwed up in the U20 EC, I had my sights set on the big WC, he admits in an interview with SportExpressen.

With a father and trainer named Stefan Holm and is one of Sweden’s leading high jumpers of all time, the expectations are of course high for young Melwin. He also broke through as a major talent at a young age but hasn’t reached the lofty heights he wanted to in recent times.

Stefan Holm’s words

It is still the height of 2.20 meters that haunts and now father Holm gives his analysis of his son’s situation.
– He has won what he is supposed to win, but has not taken that result-wise lift, so I understand his frustration. But at the same time, it’s a bit of a coincidence that he hasn’t taken 2.20 yet either. It’s about the bar going up to that height and you getting the hit. Had one come up to 2.20 in Jerusalem, I think he would have taken it there, says Stefan to the evening newspaper.

Melwin Lycke Holm now has his sights set on seriously establishing himself as a senior in the major championships. He turns 19 this autumn and is looking forward to the EC in Rome and the Summer Olympics in Paris next summer – and to finally get over that special height.
– Then I want to jump 2.20 this year, when I jumped 2.18 for like the fifth time in Jerusalem it felt like a mockery right in the face, he says in the interview.
