Tonight the time has come: Starfield celebrates its full release, finally all players are allowed into the new SciFi RPG. Find out everything about the start time, the download and information about the release in Game Pass, on Steam and Xbox.
When is Starfield coming out? Tonight at 2am Starfield launches for all Standard Edition buyers and Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
How big is the download? You have to download around 120 GB. If you have pre-ordered, you can already start the download now.
On Steam, the download only holds around 90 GB, but they still have to be unpacked for tonight’s release. Don’t worry if Starfield doesn’t start right away.
How much does Starfield cost? That depends on your platform. You shouldn’t buy the Premium Edition anymore. The included DLC is probably not worth the extra charge of around €30. Get the Standard Edition or Xbox Game Pass:
If you don’t want to pay anything for your playtest, you can get 14 free test days from a friend who is a Game Pass subscriber.
How does Starfield arrive? Many tests and reactions to the game are already online, Early Access has been running for a few days.
Roughly speaking, anyone expecting a sophisticated Bethesda-style space sim will be disappointed. It’s more of a “Skyrim in space”, the space mechanics are poor. If you can arrange yourself with a Fallout 4 or Skyrim with a science fiction setting, then you’ll be busy for the next week.
