More than 800 children in 18 schools in the Finnish city of Sankt Michel fell ill after they had eaten tortilla bread – which according to the children tasted like soap – during the school lunch, reports Iltalehti, among others.
Many students suffered stomach aches, nausea and headaches. Some children vomited or had fever, muscle aches and diarrhoea.
Laboratory tests show that some breads smelled of vinegar, but what caused the incident is still unknown – the investigation continues.
