Great concern for the environment when Chinese PTL had a consultation meeting with the public in Söråker

The politicians in the Sundsvall region have fought for a long time to get a large industrial establishment in Torsboda outside Söråker in Timrå municipality. And the joy was great when you could finally present the results of your work.

Chinese PTL has signed an agreement to build a giant plant to produce graphite powder used in battery manufacturing. 1,900 jobs are promised to be created, but the joy of the surrounding residents has been dampened as the company’s plans have been specified.

Significant environmental impact

Tuesday’s consultation meeting is a requirement for PTL to be able to meet the requirements for an environmental permit – because it will be needed.

The company itself writes that the facility will have a significant environmental impact on the surrounding residents in the area. And it was precisely the concern for the environmental problems that completely dominated when the public had the chance to ask questions to the representatives of the establishment.
