BMW unveils its cheapest electric SUV ever iX1 eDrive20

BMW has good news for those who are still undecided and worried about the high prices of new electric SUVs. New BMW iX1 eDrive20, with a less powerful drivetrain and, most importantly, at a lower price. It would not be right to call this model an SUV, it would be more accurate to call it a Crossover SUV. (Many are touting it as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). This car promises not only an eco-friendly ride, but a premium one as well.

If you’re a little more impatient, opt for optional 22 kW three-phase AC charging and you can cut that down to just 3 hours and 45 minutes. With its 130 kW fast charging option, it can boost your battery from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes.

Step inside the new entry-level iX1 and you’ll be greeted with the latest BMW Operating System 9. “QuickSelect” Meets the featured BMW iDrive. These standard features are designed for optimum user experience. Of course, BMW has also introduced a subscription model with the BMW Digital Premium offer. This offer increases the comfort and luxury of the vehicle by providing access to a range of digital services. At the heart of this system is the Curved Display, consisting of a 10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display. (As with other new BMW models) With the new and improved “QuickSelect”, users can have a smoother experience by accessing functions directly.

For some perspective, the iX1 eDrive20 is the sibling of the all-wheel drive iX1 xDrive30. The latter has two electric motors powered by the same 64.7 kWh battery. However, with a total power output of 313 horsepower, it enables it to reach 100 km / h in just 5.3 seconds.

In an era of increasing digital transformation and environmental concerns, the launch of the BMW iX1 eDrive20 seems like a calculated move.
