Municipalities seek millions for natural disasters

The authority for social protection and preparedness (MSB) has received applications to build retaining walls, flood protection and erosion protection, among other things.

There has been great interest in applying for the state grant for climate adaptation and preventive work, states MSB in a press release.

“We see a mix of large and small projects that the municipalities apply for and they cover different types of risks. Roughly half of the applications are aimed at preventing flooding, and half of landslides,” says Ida Axelsson Wall, coordinator of the state grant.

A total of 25 municipalities have applied for support for 31 projects and the total amount amounts to SEK 820 million.

The applications will now be processed and reviewed.

Two examples from the pile are a downpour path towards Mjölån in Grästorp municipality and a flood protection in Stenungsund.
