– For many it becomes like a cold or a serious flu, but age is still a decisive factor. The older you are, the greater the risk of becoming more seriously ill, says the infection prevention doctor in Sörmland, Malin Enarsson.
In addition to age, certain diseases also increase the risk of being hit harder by covid.
– Especially if you have a weakened immune system of some kind, says Malin Enarsson.
In November, the Public Health Agency will start another vaccination effort, with an updated vaccine that should provide better protection against the new variants.
– It is the risk groups and the elderly that we recommend taking the vaccine. It will be about the same risk groups that we recommend to also take the flu vaccine. We will offer to take both syringes at the same time, one in each arm, says Malin Enarsson.
The spread of infection
– Now we are more indoors and meet in larger groups. It is expected that there will be an increase in covid during the autumn, but how big and when it will come is difficult to know, says Malin Enarsson.
