Quiet voting day in Adzopé
Throughout the night, the results in the 31 regions and 201 municipalities were compiled by the Independent Electoral Commission. In Adzopé, in the south-east of the country, about a hundred kilometers from Abidjan, the ballot was held peacefully, reports our special envoy, Francois Hume-Ferkatadji
With its lively market, its open shops and its white taxis multiplying the races in the arteries of the city, Adzopé lived a Saturday like any other on this election day. From the morning, the voters went to the polling stations with the hope of knowing a peaceful vote. Malfunctions of the electronic tablets and the vote of those who did not yet have their voter cards have considerably delayed the work of the assessors, but voters like Sanogo, 22, are still smiling.
Until late at night, the local branch of the CEI in Adzopé was compiling the results of the elections for the town hall and the presidency of the Mé region.
