A fight broke out between Edvin Törnblom and Midnattsloppet – after the comedian saw the event in his podcast and called the police to make a report.
Now Törnblom is surprised live by an official, with an exciting challenge…
The midnight race became an exhausting experience for Edvin Törnblom, 27, when the roadblocks on Södermalm in Stockholm prevented him from getting home with his car. In the end, he had to park the car at his parents’ in Nacka and take a taxi back to Södermalm, where he then had to walk the last bit to his apartment.
Edvin Törnblom’s frustration with the situation led him to want to file a police report against the Midnattsloppet, he tells his podcast colleague Johanna Nordström in the podcast “Ursäkta”. But after receiving information from the police that the incident could not be reported as a crime, Törnblom instead chose to contact the Midnattsloppet’s CEO to express his frustration, where he argued in his email, among other things, that the Midnattsloppet should be held out of town.
– This was a humorous feature in my podcast that didn’t really go down well with everyone, which is perfectly fine, not everyone needs to think it’s so funny… but people were furious! Says Edvin Törnblom when he tells about the incident in Efter fem.
Surprised in shipment
After the podcast episode was broadcast, many angry exercisers got in touch, Törnblom continues, taking the opportunity to apologize to those who didn’t appreciate the joke. And for those who do not accept the apology, Edvin now gets another chance to atone for his crime (which, for the sake of clarification, cannot be reported to the police either).
Because during the broadcast, he is suddenly surprised by the official Janne, who lets him know that he has registered Törnblom for next year’s race, completely free of charge. In addition, Janne announces that the Midnattsloppet will donate SEK 5,000 to a charity of your choice – if Edvin runs the race under 60 minutes.
– They are welcome to pick me up at Sös – after I run five meters, says Edvin, who agrees to the challenge after he manages to get presenter Anna Brolin along for the sprint.
– But then they have to fix personal protection for me so I don’t get shot by all the haters, adds Törnblom jokingly.
