Announced exclusively on Jeuxactu last February, Asterix and Obelix Slap them All 2 is however a game that took its time to deploy its marketing campaign. We certainly had a few screenshots and a press release last June to officially announce it after our preview, but since then, nothing at all. It took until the end of August for Microids to finally decide to reveal to us the first video of this beat’em all which will follow the first episode released in 2021 (and yes, already!). The opportunity to see that the 2D graphics, hand-made by Philippe Dessoly, are still as attractive and ultra faithful to the comic strip. We will obviously find Asterix and Obelix, and we hope to embody other characters in this sequel. In any case, according to the information we have obtained, this second episode has enriched its gameplay with new blows that our Gauls can charge so that the attacks feel more powerful. Better, we learn that our two heroes now have a Fury mode, which it is true, should have been in the first episode. Asterix and Obelix can also destroy certain elements of the decor and pick up certain objects to turn them into makeshift weapons. Again, in a standard beat’em all, it’s a bit basic.

As for the story, it is indicated that Asterix and Obelix will go off again because of

Goudurix who needs their help, in particular to save his father, Océanonix, who has been imprisoned for a theft he did not commit… He is indeed accused of having stolen the Aquila of Lutetia, the precious emblem in gold from the Roman legions, and thus thrown into prison! Our two Gauls thus take the road to Lutèce, knowing that they will cross other environments, such as mysterious ruins nestled in the heart of the forest, passing by a Roman camp, up to the majestic Lutèce… We hope that this time the sequences on the pirate ship will be fewer and less painful…

The release of Asterix and Obelix Slap Them All 2 has also been announced, it is expected for November 30, 2023 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
