More cars were registered in August

Behind it are well-filled order books from the pandemic years, which now result in finished cars that are delivered to customers.

During August, it is about 23,871 new passenger cars. Of these, rechargeable cars account for 60 percent. The share of pure electric cars was 41 percent.

Going forward, however, things look bleak for car dealers. Overall, the number of newly registered cars has halved, at least so far this year.

“It is gratifying that we are returning to normal delivery times, but worrying that we are emptying our order books. The high percentage of rechargeable vehicles is also positive, which is driven by the companies’ willingness to change their vehicle fleets. New sales on the private side are still freezing,” writes Sofia Linder, chief economist at Mobility Sweden in a press release.
