In the preparation phase of the survival show 7 vs. Wild, an incident between two participants is said to have occurred. 63-year-old Andreas Kiesling was thrown out before the show started. However, it is the victim who received angry comments on social media.
What is the incident? Season 3 contestants of survival show 7 vs. Wild reported back from the Canadian wilderness over the weekend of August 26th and 27th, 2023. Which teams of two survived the full 2 weeks is still a closely guarded secret.
As the show’s organizational team announced via Instagram, one participant will not be seen during the broadcast: The documentary filmmaker Andreas Kieling was excluded due to an “incident” with another candidate during the preparation phase.
It is not known what exactly happened between the 63-year-old and Ann-Kathrin Bendixen, aka “Monkey on Bike”, who was 40 years his junior. The official post only mentions a “border crossing”.
The news caused an uproar on social media. However, it was precisely the victim in this situation that drew the ire of some users. On social media, without knowing the details of the incident, users speculated that the woman must have overreacted and assumed that the man was certainly innocent.
“Monkey on Bike” receives hate comments
What is the current status? After the announcement of Kieling’s exclusion, many fans speculated what exactly could have happened. While there was sympathy for the 23-year-old, Bendixen also faced hostility in the comments on her posts.
A clarification appeared on the account of 7 vs. Wild. According to this, several people observed the “cross-border incident”: The exclusion was not based on a mere accusation by the participant.
Other participants take a stand
Other participants have also taken a clear stand. The organizer Fritz Meinecke wrote in his own story on Instagram that he was there himself and stands behind the decisions of the organization.
The “sons of nature” Andreas Schulze and Gerrit Rösel were “horrified” by the comments and asked: “How can people be so ignorant and disgusting?” They had witnessed the behavior of the documentary filmmaker themselves and found it “absolutely disgusting” (via Reddit).
Monkey on Bike herself expressed herself in her own story on Instagram. The incident was very uncomfortable for her. However, Kieling apologized to her afterwards and the whole thing was over for her.
