The story of One Piece takes place in a fictional world that is characterized by numerous fantasy elements. Not only humans exist here, but also other beings. Temporarily we are in the so-called Great Age of Pirates. This started 22 years before Luffy’s adventure with the execution of the pirate king Gold D. Roger (Michael Dorman).

Before his death, Roger announced to the world that he had previously hidden a legendary treasure, the One Piece. Whoever can loot this treasure will be declared the new Pirate King. From then on, the world’s seas were teeming with pirates, who are a thorn in the side of the world government.

In the manga is itself after 25 years it has not yet been clarified what the One Piece actually is. But we can assume that it is not a mere treasure chest full of gold. The truth about the One Piece will probably only be revealed at the very end of Luffy’s story.
