“It’s a miracle that episodes were made at all”

Many a TV success has only come about after a lot of resentment behind the scenes. This apparently also applies to Desperate Housewives. The TV highlight was shooting a Nightmare, according to author Patty Lin (Friends).

Desperate Housewives writers had to avoid star gaze

Lin co-wrote 12 episodes of Desperate Housewives beginning in 2004. According to her book End Credits (via Daily Mail), filming was a mix of inefficiency, delays and Stars you didn’t dare to look directly in the eye. Lin describes her memories as follows.

Each scene was hastily written by a different person. As soon as the script was even half-baked, it blew us away [Produzent] Marc Cherry out of his hands and retired to his bungalow to redo it. […] With such an inefficient system, it is It’s a miracle that episodes were made at all.

But working with the producer was just one of many problems. During rehearsals, she and her colleagues tried avoiding the gaze of actress Teri Hatcher. Lin doesn’t give a reason for the dislike. At the end of the series, the Huffington Post reported about a rift between Hatcher and the rest of the cast.
